Digital Learning Day...February 5th, 2014!
Digital Learning Day is a national event that is spotlighting the use of digital tools in the classroom. The event site (http://www.digitallearningday.org/) is full of tips, tools, and lesson plans that you could use in your classroom. At ASD we are celebrating all of the different ways our staff uses digital tools in the classroom. Check out our Digital Learning Spreadsheet of Ideas for an AWESOME list of ideas being used at ASD! Remember to keep adding to this list.

Blogging: Creating a Digital VoiceAt the top of the page, you will notice a new button that says "BLOG". I created the blog, Journeys of a TIC, using Blogger (Google Apps) and will use it to highlight/reflect on my days as Technology Integration Coach. Blogging is a great way for you or your students to publish a "digital voice". For more ideas on how you can start blogging in your classroom, contact myself or your building LMS. We would love to help!

Digitizing Your Word WallI found this awesome QR Code idea for digitizing a word wall on Twitter this weekend. Here is the blog post. I love the idea of adding a digital extension to a word wall. Students would be able to scan the QR Code next to the word and then be directed to some sort of content. The teacher in the blog created all of the content, but I would love to see student created material. You could have your students record the definition, use it in a sentence, or even create a video acting out the use of the word. Very cool idea!
Digital Creation Tool: BlendspaceBlendspace, formerly called EduCanvas, is a tool that allows you to collect and display digital resources, add online assessments to the resources, and track student progress. There are lessons already created or you can create your own Blendspace. The idea of a blended space is to bring together your classroom space with a digital space. Here is a quick tutorial on Blendspace.

Digital Content Tool: FlocabularyRemember School House Rock? This is very similar, just a hip hop version. Flocabulary isn't a free website tool, however they do have a lot of free content available. You can find songs and videos on their site, www.flocabulary.com, or you can search for their stuff on YouTube.
iPad App: Drawing with CarlDrawing with Carl is a great app for students to create digital content. Students can write, draw, annotate over pictures, and more, then add the creation to your photo album.
Do you have a classroom activity that has your students observing? Let them observe and then create with Drawing with Carl. |
