Using the Best Tool for the Job
When lesson planning, where and when does technology integration become a part of the process?
A good analogy to think about is...We don't go to the hardware store, buy a hammer, then walk around our house looking for ways to use it. We plan a project or repair, then think about what the best tool would be to accomplish it.
Technology integration works the same way. We shouldn't pick a technology (app, website, device) and then look for ways to use it. Our process should be to identify a learner outcome, then decide what tool(s) will work best to meet the objective. Technology should just be another "tool" in your teacher "toolbox".
Next time you are lesson planning, feel free to contact myself or any member of our integration tech team (Matt Anderson, Dawn Austin, Corey Hansen, Deb Danen, Nadine Mathu). We would love to sit down and brainstorm what tech tool(s)that could help you in the classroom.

Digital Media Resource
|
www.commonsensemedia.org Common Sense Media is a fantastic resource for finding age recommendations, reading reviews, searching age-level appropriateness, etc. I think this site has tremendous value not only for teachers, but for parents as well. The video podcast to the left will walk you through how to navigate the site. |
Let me know if you are looking for ways to integrate some of the ideas above or your own integration idea. I can observe, brainstorm, and help get you started for current or future lessons.
